Out of school clubs and holiday playschemes

PATA out of school clubs and holiday playschemes offer high quality provision for schoolchildren aged up to 16 years.

They provide parents and carers with reliable, high quality childcare to meet their working commitments. Many adults choose to get involved with the running of the club to benefit their children and the local community.

Mainly run by an elected committee or as a private business, these clubs and playschemes operate before or after school or both.

An out of school club can be:

  • A Breakfast Club – open in the mornings before school so children can enjoy breakfast there

  • An After School Club – open in the afternoons between about 3:00pm and 6:00pm

  • A Before and After School Club – open before and after school

  • A Holiday Playscheme which operates during some or all school holidays

Membership benefits:

  • Advice, information and support from the PATA Centre

  • Support with constitutional and charity issues

  • Professional and friendly support from PATA’s dedicated Out of School Club fieldworker

  • Training workshops at a preferential rate for parents, carers, committee, staff and volunteers

  • Regular newsletter

  • Help when considering starting an out of school club or holiday playscheme
