Annual Report 2007 - an overview of PATA's activities.

Annual Report 2006

PATA Chatter has been revised and now appears as a booklet containing Playgroup News, Toddler News and Out of School Project news, as well as updated information about Training and NVQs.  Branches also feature in the booklet.  The PATA Chatter booklet is mailed to our member groups and individual members 4 times a year.

The PATA Business Pack, is a resource to support in the management of early years and out of school settings, particularly those with a voluntary management committee. Statutory guidance and good practice sit together as key aspects of managing settings. The pack is not intended as an authority on the law but is intended to give relevant information for setting managers and committees to carry out their responsibility effectively and confidently.

It is presented in a hardwearing and attractive A4 ring binder. Each section includes guidance in an accessible style and signposting to relevant legislation and documentation for specific information. Details of agencies with expertise in the broad and diverse issues that impacts on the running of early years and childcare settings have also been included. There are appendices that can be copied and used by settings.

The sections are

  • About community settings – charity and committee issues
  • Financial management
  • Employing staff
  • Safety Issues
  • Policies
  • Publicity and marketing.

Whilst it will be an invaluable resource for voluntary groups, private and maintained settings will also find much of interest. The cost of the pack is £30.00 plus P&P, £15.00 plus P&P to PATA members, with discounts for bulk orders. Sample pages are available for viewing.

All groups in Gloucestershire have been provided with a copy thanks to a grant from the Early Years and Childcare Service. Further copies can be purchased at the discount price £15.00.

PATA has an extensive library of books at the PATA Centre available for members to borrow.
