Autism - An Introduction to Autism and Supporting Behaviour
Course Aim: To develop an understanding of how autism can present itself in young children and to explore ways of managing the child's needs and behaviour positively.
Course Information:
During the session we will consider the following:
· What is autism?
· Communication: theirs and ours.
· Sensory Issues: how these can affect the child's behaviour.
· Managing challenging behaviour.
· Going on Trips; avoiding pitfalls and achieving positive outcomes.
· Supporting the family.
Suitable For: Anyone who works or volunteers with children and would like a better understanding of what to look out for and how to support children with autism.
Delivered by: Sara Watters, Lead Practitioner and Senior Learner Support Worker, HLTA and QCF Assessor for The Milestone School. Sara has 20 years of classroom experience, 15 of which have been at The Milestone School.
Date: dates and times to be confirmed. This can be run as a day course or two evening sessions (2 1/4 hours each session)
