Introduction to Playwork

Course Aim:  To develop an understanding of play and playwork settings.

Course Information:  During the session we will look at the following:

· The importance of play

· Playwork principles

· Types of play

· Loose parts

The course aims to provide you with the information required for an induction into playwork, giving you an understanding of children and play, your role and responsibility of being a playworker and how to build good relationships.

Playwork is often undervalued as a separate discipline so we have developed this course to look specifically at this area and to support practitioners.

Anyone who works or volunteers with children in a playwork setting including breakfast, after school and holiday clubs who would like a better understanding of playwork.
