Course Aim: To raise students’ awareness of the value of learning through play for young children and to gain skills to provide appropriate play activities.
Course Information: A very hands on practical course looking at play from the child’s perspective, exploring why children need to play and how they learn from it. Learners will develop a folder of ideas, information, resources and recipes and be involved with other students in practical activities and discussions, sharing experiences and exchanging ideas. The course includes:
· Child development
· The role of the adult
· Health and safety
· Equal opportunities
· Practical play activities; using paint, natural and recycled materials, food and snacks, stories and music, playdough, developing imaginative play
Suitable For: Anyone currently working with, or wanting to work with children. It is a recommended pre-course activity for anyone aiming to start a qualification, run a toddler group or volunteer in any early years profession.

Childcare Provision: Please note than Funky Warehouse have very kindly offered the use of their soft play provision for any children of family attending the course for a fee of £5 per session (to include squash for the children). This will need to be paid directly to Funky Warehouse on the day.
Your children will be supervised by Funky Warehouse staff on the play equipment and we will be in a room to the side but with netted walls so, if needed, you will be able to see you child – from a distance! They will be joining us for some of the activities.
