1:1 Early Years Practitioner Position Part-time, Fixed Term Contract. This post will be dependent on Early Years funding from Gloucestershire County Council as part of the child’s education, health and care (EHC) plan. The post’s hours (please see below) may increase dependent on the family’s request and whether further funding applications are successful.  The contract is for a minimum of 1 year, i.e. up to and including July 2026, commencing 1 September 2025 (we do ask for availability in July to enable transition into the setting). The successful candidate may be able to continue into the adjacent primary school as a 1:1 TA for this child. The hourly rate of pay will be in line with the National Living Wage or the National Minimum Wage. Please note: 1:1 hours within school will be dependent on funding and staffing arrangements to best support the needs of the child.

We are a voluntary-run charity based Pre-school in the Leigh Building, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in picturesque Nympsfield.  We are open Monday to Friday, term time only.

The post is to support a caring and enthusiastic 1:1 child who enjoys engaging with peers with their kind nature. We ask that the 1:1 has understanding of how best to support the child, who has Down Syndrome, to flourish within their education. The child will be attending on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8:45am – 3:15pm, totalling 26 hours a week; initially this role will be split with their current 1:1 meaning the remaining hours will be as an Early Years practitioner within the setting.

We are looking for a kind and caring individual who is enthusiastic, uses their initiative and is very patient and adaptable. It is desirable but not essential for applicants to have First Aid and Makaton/Total Communication training or be willing to complete this, at the cost of the setting, by the beginning of September.  Applicants do not need to have childcare qualifications.  However, a minimum appropriate Level 2 qualification would be desirable but not essential.  Applicants will develop a good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), be able to work as part of an established team and develop excellent communication skills.

If you are interested in this opportunity and becoming part of our pre-school family, please contact the Pre-school by email on sjpleadpractitioner@gmail.com for an application form.

Closing date for applications: 2:30pm on Wednesday 21st May 2025
