Makaton Training

Makaton is a multi-modal language programme that uses signs, symbols and speech for children and adults with speech, language and communication needs to build on their understanding and use of speech and language.

These are fun, informal sessions with a chance to practice the signs and symbols taught with each other and learn a new skill. You will receive workbooks and a certificate of attendance.

Makaton Levels

All levels are delivered over three sessions and all sessions must be attended. The course fee includes a Makaton workbook per level. Levels can be booked individually or as combined Levels 1 & 2 and 3 & 4.

Individual Levels | Members: £82 per level / Non-members: £86 per level

Combined Levels | Members: £159 / Non-members: £169

Level 1

Practical introduction to the Makaton Learning Programme. Covers everyday signing, symbols and how to start using Makaton at home or work.

Includes stages 1 and 2 and part of the Additional Core Vocabulary.

Level 2

Builds on what was learnt in Level 1. You will learn the signs and symbols from Stages 3 and 4, and part of the Additional stage, of the Core Vocabulary.

21st, 27th & 28th April 2026

6:30pm to 9:00pm

Level 3

Develop and improve your signing and symbol skills for everyday use.

Includes revision of Levels 1 and 2 and covers stages 5 and 6.

2nd, 3rd & 9th March 2026

6:30pm to 9:00pm

Level 4

Completes the Makaton Core Vocabulary.

Includes revision of Levels 1 to 3 and covers Stages 7 and 8.
